Lines of Sound: A Repertoire Project
My Repertory Project is an ongoing artistic and scholarly endeavor dedicated to cultivating a varied body of saxophone music that encompasses multiple styles, voices, and compositional traditions. This project serves as a platform for critical engagement, creative exploration, and collaborative performance, emphasizing repertoire as both a site of cultural discourse and a medium for personal expression.
THE mission
The mission of the Personal Repertory Project is to develop and sustain an evolving performance canon. Through ongoing curation and collaboration, the project seeks to create musical experiences that engage both performers and audiences, broaden the repertoire accessible to intermediate and advanced players, and foster meaningful dialogue across personal, cultural, and artistic contexts.
THE MEANING
What does Lines of Sound mean? Musically, it may refer to melodic lines, individual voices and phrases unfolding over time. Visually and conceptually, it may suggest sound as patterns or structures that can be traced and explored. It may also evoke the variety of voices and traditions converging in this repertoire. Lines of Sound holds metaphorical and poetic weight. Music carries stories, identity, and personal expression. Ultimately, its meaning is open, resonating differently for each listener and performer.
